THE last Ladies’ open competition took place on Saturday (August 25) at Killymoon.
Generously sponsored once again by Doris and MacMahon Killymoon Ladies’ Branch remain indebted for the continued support without which these events could not take place.
This very popular event took the form of a four Ball Better Ball and ladies from clubs across the province took part playing in glorious sunshine.
Tracey Moore and Anne MacMahon were the overall winners with a fabulous 40 points. Lily McMullan and Rachel Wilson were runners up with 37 points. Third prize went to Anne Greaves and Sheila Doonan with 36 point whilst best gross was won by K Shaw and V Courtney with 27 points.
In other news, on August 16 Danielle Rooney won the Millennium Trophy, a stroke competition with Nett 71. Runner up was fiercely contested with Maureen Mulholland taking the prize with 73 Nett on a better back nine from Lady Captain Frances McKenna, Kate Lennon and Vicky Boland. Lady Captain Frances won the Front Nine with 35 Nett and Back Nine went to Kate Lennon on 36 Nett on a count back from Lesley McGlaughlin. Danielle Rooney and Lady Vice Captain Oonagh McCoy both got 2’s.
Killymoon Golf Club has the honour of hosting the Ulster Ladies Open Amateur Championship from 29-31 August. All are welcome to watch these talented lady golfers at their best.
The Cowdy Cup Team are through to the final which will be played in Lisburn on 7 September. Captained by Pat McNeill the Killymoon ladies have done fantastically well so far and best of luck in the final ladies.
