SPRING was in the air on Saturday morning for over forty Sperrin Harriers who were joined by many athletes from no less than 14 Running clubs from all across the country and beyond at the picturesque Drum Manor Forest Park for the 4th race of the Winter League Trail Series.

The race even had participants from as far away as Belfast and Dublin.

The usual course had to be altered slightly because of the soft conditions. The usual first long and steep hill climb had to be cut from the race, much to the delight of many of the runners.

During the early stages of the race, Aidan O’Hagan had a nasty fall which needed medical attention. This didn’t stop Aidan who had lost 10+ minutes, from rejoining the race and going on to finish with 46.19. Well done Aidan!

Sperrin Harrier Pierce McCullagh broke the tape with 36.11. Niall Brown was second Harrier with 37.12 while Aaron Meharg took third with 37.56. The rest of the harriers times are as follows:

Neil Campbell 39.48, Diarmuid O’Kane 39.57, Gavin Corey 39.17, Jarlath O’Neill 40.54, Martin Loughran 40.57, Connor Martin 41.00, Irwin Speirs (1st MO/60) 42.06, Gavin Wylie 42.09, Sean O’Gara 43.12, Paul McLaughlin 43.40, Gregory Cahoon 43.45, Tommy Harraghy (2nd MO/55) 43.51, Adrian McCreesh 43.42, Ali Ferguson 44.11, Dean Corey 44.30, Raymond Thom 45.52, Trevor Dallas 46.10, Oliver Murphy 46.59, Doc Martin 47.41, Barry Loughran 47.44.

Chippy O’Neill (who was loving wearing the no.1 bib just a wee bit too much) 47.52, Rosemary Hargan had a great performance as she claimed 2nd lady overall and 1st Lady Harrier home with 49.13, Barry O’Neill 49.21, Fergal McElroy 50.01, Shauna Young 51.16, Hannah Su 52.43, John Knocker 53.14, Laura McErlain 53.37, Louis Devlin 53.42, Ciara Mullan 55.29, Adel McNally 55.43, Roisin McErlain 57.15, Elaine Hargan 62.45, Deirdre Bradley (2nd FO/40) 62.13 and Maureen Mallon (2nd FO/45) 65.22.
