The Cookstown Mavericks progressed to the finals of this year’s McCausland Light & Rankin Anderson Cup at Banbridge on the evening of Saturday May 11 with three overpowering performances in the nine-a-side form of the game.

The Mavericks started with a comfortable 5-0 win over South Antrim Wanderers and continued that good form with an emphatic 10-0 win over Antrim Crossfire.

The goals came from a number of players, including Omagh’s Andrew Smyth who looks to be a great prospect for the Reds.

Raphoe Ravens then recorded a couple of wins over Crossfire and Wanderers while the two County Antrim teams shared the points in a energetic draw.

Qualification for the final boiled down to the last match of the evening which resulted in a 2-0 win for the Mavericks over the Donegal Ravens.

The decent sized crowd saw 30 goals and all teams are to be contgratulated on some good attacking hockey
