Athletics: Acorn Ladies take part in Stunnerz ‘N’ Runnerz

The annual Stunnerz to Runnerz 5 mile race took place in Magherafelt on Saturday from the Meadowbank Sports Arena.

There were 9 Acorns ladies taking part in the event, which took place under fine weather conditions. The race got underway close to the Rainey Old Boys Rugby Club at Midday, and finished with a lap of the track at the Sports Arena.

Rosemary Hargan continued her return to form with a fine run in just under 41 mins, plus picked a category prize along the way. Ciara Quinn ran a fine race and crossed the line in 45:15, with Edel McGuckin hot on her heels finishing in 45:28.

Evelyn Morgan finished in an excellent 45:57, with Elaine Hargan just behind her, crossing the line in 46:08. Samantha Morrow and Pauline Kelly both ran super races and completed the distance in under 50 mins.

Sharon Scott hit the finish line in 51:15 and Jennifer Leacock had a fine run to finish in 58:21.

Antrim Active 5 mile – Niall Hasson put in a strong performance when he took part in “Antrim Active 5” event on Friday night, and completed the course in 36 minutes.

Enniskillen Lakeland 10k– well done to Alan Shaw participated in this race along with the large field of nearly 1000 runners on Saturday. Alan had a great race finishing 29th place overall in 40:24.

NI and Ulster 3000m Championship- Congratulations to PJ O’Neill who came 5th in the 3000m final, when he crossed the line in 10:18.

Parkrun Musa results Sat 15th June:- 3rd- Roger McLean 20.06; 5th- Cathaoir Purvis 21.35; 6th- Niall Hassan 21.45.

A trip is being planned to the Killarney Marathon and Half Marathon on 19th July, there are still places available, therefore please contact Francis Purvis is you are interested in going.

Training takes place in Magherafelt at Meadow Bank Sports Arena running track on a Monday at 7pm, and a Wednesday at 7.30pm.
