Most of the Harriers squad took a break after a busy racing schedule over Christmas and New Year; however, Karen Alexander decided to take part in the Moira XC.

City of Lisburn AC welcomed athletes from across the province to their annual race, in the scenic Moira Demesne in County Down.

Karen held the lead from the start, and dominated the 3 mile race crossing the finish lines in 16:26, with Shileen O’Kane (Lagan Valley) taking 2nd place and Larnes Geraldine Quigley finishing third.

Due to adverse weather conditions, there was no Parkrun at Cookstown MUSA. Other results:- Derry- 6th Martin McGirr 20:17; Armagh- 2nd Neill Campbell 20:58.

Countdown is on to Drum Manor 10k this Saturday.

It’s the next race in Sperrin Harriers Winter League is in the scenic Drum Manor Forest park just outside Cookstown.

This is the third event in the 5 race fixture, registration will take place from 11am with the start at midday. Entry on the day is £5 for club members and £6 for non-affiliated.

The Ccub will require help on the day from members with marshalling, registration etc, therefore even if you are planning to participate, please come along and help out.

Cross Country Update

After six off the eight races in the NI XC league, Sperrin Harriers ladies are certainly making an impact sitting on 35 points in 6th place. With 1 point behind Omagh and 3 behind North Belfast it’s all to run for in the last couple of races. The men’s team also are sitting on 35 points and have moved up a place in the table to 6th place, a few points behind North Belfast.

Next two races are as follows: Saturday 8th February, Enniskillen XC; Saturday 22nd February, Stormont XC Belfast.

Harriers train in Magherafelt at Meadow Bank Sports Arena on a Monday at 6.45pm, and aWednesday at 7.30pm. Cookstown training is at Loughry College on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm.
