East Tyrone riders Gary Jeffers, Lorraine Jeffers and Melvin Steele started with brilliant third places in Sunday’s Phoenix Grand Prix on Nutts Corner-Seven Mile Straight Circuit.

Strong winds and heavy rain made for tough racing, Melvin Steele producing one of his best results by placing third in A3 Race, clublmate Harry McComb finishing strongy in the main group.

Lorraine Jeffers also took third in opening round of Ulster Womens Road Race Series and Gary Jeffers got his season off to a promising start placing third in a hotly contested A1/2 Event.

The action this weekend moves to the John Moore Memorial Race promoted by Castlereagh C C.
