East Tyrone Cycling Club’s Ann McFarland and Lorraine Jeffers placed first and third respectively in the Womens’ category in the 3 Day ‘Tour of Omagh’ last weekend.
It was a popular win for the inspirational Gortin woman who has been competing successfully in men’s events throughout her career and Lorraine has been consistently well placed in the Ulster Womens’ Road Race League Events all season.
The five strong mens’ team consisting of Michael Crawley, Mark Hewitt, Ivan Jeffers. Colin Ramsay and Neil McGeown rode strongly in all four stages placing seventh 0verall in the team competition.
Colin Ramsay was first over the final climb at Gortin Glen on Sunday placing fifth Overall in the KOH competition. Michael Crawley finished 17th in his first stage race, Colin Ramsay 20th and first unplaced veteran. Ivan Jeffers was 47th, Mark Hewitt 60th and Neil McGeown ended the event in 86th place.
The team would like to thank all who helped over the weekend. Eddie, Leslie and Nigel for driving the support vehicle and all the club members who came out to give roadside support and encouragement.
Jake Gray Wins League Event
Jake Gray was the winner of Round Four of the JS Cycles Road Race League held last week on the Churchtown circuit.
Gray was the strongest of a quality four man breakaway including Ryan Orr, John Heverin and Bob Talbot that escaped on the final lap after the race came together.

The race action this Thursday 3rd July is Round Four of the Somerville Body Repairs TT League which is a circuit event over one lap of the Cement Works-Rock-Sandholes course starting and finishing at the Kilcronagh Business Park at 7.30 pm.
