Members of the Kildress Karate Club took part in the Japanese Karate Federation Masters course in Leicester recently. The course consisted of several Japanese masters from the JKF.

The course started with some important elements that students need to apply to their karate moves in order to be succesful against an opponent.

Kihon waza, basic kicks and punches , were studied in detail, with Takagi Sensei 8th Dan JKF highlighting the importance of applying technique such as timing, co-ordination and soft movement. This prepared them for practising with a fellow student. An attacker and defender studied the pre-arranged moves, with the more advanced Kihon Gumite. Studying distance and timing, along with Zanshin (awareness) were all dealt with. Kata was also studied in fine detail with Shimamoto Sensei 8th Dan JKF showing all the incredible skills possible.

Kildress instructors can now pass the latest technical details on to their students, technical details that come directly from the Japanese masters .
