THE East Tyrone Club are promoting the Ernie Magwood Memorial event which takes place this Sunday July 24 on the Cookstown - Omagh Road.
The event will be an open 10 mile T.T starting at Kildress Plumbing Supplies with the first rider off at 10am with sign on from 9am.
Ernie enjoyed all aspects of cycling but time trialling was his first love and it is fitting that the club will use the course and distance where he was in his element and where he had so many of his victories.
No doubt many of the cyclists who held him in the highest regard will want to take part in this event which will be held in memory of this truly great sportsman.
Generous sponsorship from Lafarge Cement ensures an excellent prize fund including the Ernie Magwood Memorial trophy presented to the club by Ernies wife Christine and the Magwood family which will be awarded to the overall winner.
There will also be awards for second and third fastest, 1st junior, 1st E.T member, 1st lady and the fastest competitor using a standard road bike.
Meanwhile, Round six of the Burrows Enginnering Road Race League will be held this Thursday July 21 on the Rock circuit starting at 7:30pm. There will also be a shorter youth event.
Congratulations to Gary Jeffers on a good third place in the senior 4 event at the Ras Loughuile.
The Tame Tuesdays cycle runs for leisure/touring riders leave Asda carpark Cookstown at 6:30pm. For further details contact Ian Barnes 867 66764.
Finally the sixth round of the Cooper Motorcycles T.T League has been brought forward to Wednesday July 27. The event will be held over 10 miles on the Omagh Road.
