Mid Ulster travel to Monaghan to secure win

Mid Ulster Swimming Club had to wait until the last race of the evening to win their third gala of the season in the Forest Feast AquaSprint Junior Swimming League.

On Saturday 16th April Mid Ulster Swimming Club narrowly defeated Sliabh Beagh by 201 to 199 points. During the contest the lead switched between the teams on a number of occasions leaving the final freestyle relay as the decider. Whoever won race 40 was going to win the gala and fortunately for Mid Ulster they touched home first.

Gala captains for the evening, Ruth Dace and Fergal McCollum, were delighted with the performance of the team. Fergal faced tough competition from his brother Conor on the night, with Conor just pipping him to first place in all four individual races. With Fergal coming second each time the two brothers gained valuable points for the team.

Peter Tohill continued his fine form over the season with three wins. Ryan McGuckin and Thea Corry had two victories each and Sarah McGuckin, Dearbhla Walls, Ciara McCoy and Aisling Craig all won on the night.

Mid Ulster would like to extend their thanks to Sliabh Beagh for their sportsmanship and hospitality throughout the evening.
