Fresh from his exciting win at the North of Ireland Amateur Open,Chris Selfridge went very close to making it a prestigious double when competing in the Open Strokeplay held at Galgorm Castle,Ballymena.
He had recorded rounds of 70,68,73 and 67 for 278,which was 10 under for the competition. Going into the final round,the Moyola player took the lead at one stage, but he and Dermot McElroy were then level coming to the par 5 18 just pipped to the title by one shot. Damien McCusker had notched a fine first round score of 67.
Through to the final of the annual Watterson Cup club matchplay are Geraldine Kelly and Claire McKenna versus Ann Kelly and Margaret O’Neill.This must be played by Wednesday, August 21.
