New swimming coach in town

Cookstown District Council welcomes new Active Communities Swimming Coach Ivan McKeown to Cookstown Leisure Centre.

Ivan is funded through the Active Communities Programme which is a Sport Northern Ireland lottery funded initiative that aims to increase participation in sport and physical recreation in Northern Ireland.

Through Active Communities, Sport Northern Ireland is working in partnership with the 26 district councils within Northern Ireland to help over 100,000 people in Northern Ireland to get active and stay active.

As part of a team of 8 Active Community Coaches that are employed by Cookstown Council to deliver physical activity primarily to women & girls, people with a disability & older people across the Mid Ulster area, Ivan will work closely with Cookstown Swimming Club & Swim Ulster to help develop swimming. He commented, “I am delighted to be taking up this post and look forward to working with a wide range of groups to help increase participation rates within the sport of swimming”.
