Another Runher Pop-up event took place on Wednesday at the Carnfunnock Park on the coast road near Larne.

These ever popular events, which are organised by the Belfast Telegraph, attracted around 200 ladies from across Northern Ireland, including a 20 strong contingent from Acorns AC. Two distances were available on the night, a 5k which covered 2 laps of the park or a 10k across a 4 lap course.

Jude Gallagher Around the Bridges 10 Mile – This annual event, which is organised by Springwell runners, took place on Thursday evening in excellent dry weather conditions.

The course is relatively flat and took the runners out of Limavady and along the Seacoast road, before returning back into the town to the finish line beside the local cricket club.

The Acorns were well represented with over ten members taking part, plus there was a strong field in place for this race, including Belfast Marathon winner Freddy Sittuk and AAI Masters holder Natasha Adams.

As the race got underway at 7.30pm, the 400 runners made a brisk start, including the Acorns crew of Aaron Meharg, Darrell McKee and Martin Loughran. Not far behind, in the middle of the pack, were Bliadhan Glass, Alan Shaw and Kevin Conway, to name but a few.

As they approached the half way stage, Aaron was inside the top ten and keeping in touch with the leading pack. Darrell McKee, who was running the event for the first time, was holding his own just in front of Marty and Bliadhan.

Alan Shaw and Kevin Conway came though the five mile marker in under 35 minutes, and a few seconds back was Stephen Kerr and Connor McWilliams. Oli Murphy, John Knocker and Rosemary Hargan were all running very well, and on target for good times.

As the lead runners approached the finish it was Aaron Meharg who took 7th place and a PB time of 56:18, following a closing battle with Pius McIntyre (Foyle Valley) and James Brown (Larne).

Darrell finished was also inside the top 20 with another PB time of 59:47, followed by Marty and Bliadhan. Rosemary Hargan picked up a F55 Category prize following another great run when she crossed the line in 83:04.
