WITH the Senior Squads without a game last weekend the junior teams at Rainey took centre stage on Saturday 19th November. They all made the difficult trip to Belfast Royal Academy. The ‘David Allingham Forklift Safety Training’ sponsored Rainey ES Medallion were missing a number of players and came up a well organised home team. The local boys gave their all right to the final whistle but eventually lost 32-0. The Under 14 A team also gave a really good account of themselves. They pushed BRA all the way, but were defeated 29-10. James McGurk and Richard Murray scored tries. The Under 14 B team were also beaten 25-7.
The Under 13 A team lost 23-0, however the Under 13 B team were unlucky to lose, going down 14-10 to a late BRA score. Jonathan Hanna got the Rainey points.
In two mid week fixtures the Under 13 and Under 14 teams hosted Limavady GS.
The Under 14 team lost to a much bigger team 36-10, with James McGurk scoring two tries. The Under 13 team had a great victory, playing some really entertaining rugby to win 24-12. Matthew Porter scored 2 tries, Stewart Thomson and Jonathan Hanna scored one try each. Morgan McNulty kicked two conversions.
This Saturdays fixtures are against Omagh Academy. The Medallion, Under 14 and Under 13 teams are at home with a 10.15 am kick off. All support is welcome. There are no senior fixtures this weekend as the senior squad is on tour to Dublin and Manchester. Best wishes to all the players and coaches on the tour.
