RAINEY OLD BOYS II 12 QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY II 14

In the Conference, Rainey squandered too many gilt-edged first half chances and were made pay as Queen’s came back to defeat them 14-12 at Hatrick Park.

The first half hour belonged to Rainey, but three clear opportunities were butchered and a simple penalty missed.

Right-wing Dillon had what looked like a perfectly good try ruled out for a forward pass while a try from towering lock Flanigan was all they had to show for their efforts.

Queen’s improved after the break and two tries put them 14-5 in front. A forward drive gave Flanigan his second try of the day, Dillon converting, but the winner proved elusive.

Rainey III are the only team in action this week. They play City of Derry III at Judges Road.

Portadown came back into it with a try before half-time.Gilmore made it 13-5,but a penalty and a try levelled the scores.
