It’s all to play for in the final round of the Adult Open Ulster Motocross Championship as the entrants go to ‘The Desert’ on Saturday to decide who is the best in 2013.
The Knock Club will host this event at the top class circuit at Desertmartin and the
plans are to run on the full international circuit so a real treat is in store for both the riders and the spectators.
There is real tension in the air coming into this final round, Gary Gibson leading the Grade A MX1/3 classs by 14 points from Lisburn man Ricky Bird - and third place man Wayne Garrett could also take the title.
A real climax is expected also in the final of the MX2 Class. Young Loughbrickland rider Jason Meara is just 16 points behind Glen McCormick from Ballyclare and he will not be taking any prisoners as he races to win at this event.
Phil Harris will be hoping luck is on his side in MX/3 class as he trails Jordan McCaw in Grade B section. Luke Smith has the MX2 Semi Expert Championship won for 2014 but, to be a true champion, you want to top your class at all the rounds, so Luke will be there to prove he is worthy of his title.
The Grade C riders are the back bone of the sport and the MX1 & MX2 Classes couldn’t be tighter. Jordon Blakely and William Barr are two points apart in the MX1 class and this will be one exciting final.
Chris Eccles and Alexander Ellison will race hoping to be crowned 2013 Champion in the Grade C MX2 but which one will emerge triumphant?
Apart from the championship battles, there will be a good turnout of riders in all the classes as they all want to finish on a good note.
Catering will be available and it’s hoped that spectators will turn out in support. There are great viewing points all round the track, everyone welcome, £5 per person (includes parking) and U14s go free on a great family day out.
