THE August Monthly Medal Stroke competition held at Moyola Park Golf Club in Castledawson, has been won by 12 handicapper Paul Watters.

His return was 67 , a shot ahead of John Quinn (10) with Noel Reid (18) in third on 69.The best gross came from Dean Crawford (3) with 73 while the handicap category winners are ; 0-9, Brian O’Boyle (9) 70; 10-17, Thomas Doyle (14) 70; 18 plus,Charlie J.Donnelly (23) 71. There were 16 optional twos winners, each getting 3 golf balls.

With 23pts,Graeme Clarke (14) secured first place in a midweek 9 hole competition. Second was Cecil Brown (11) 20pts, and third Fergal Lee (14) also 20pts.

And, a weekend Sweep Stableford brought the following result – 1st,Eugene Hegarty (19) 40pts (on last 6 holes ) ; 2nd,Peter McVey (25) 40pts;3rd, Paul Storey (11) 39pts; handicap category 0-9,Brian O’Boyle (9) 37pts; 10-13,Noel McMullan (11) 35pts;14-17,Gary McOscar (17) 38pts; 18 plus,Colm Kelly (21) 37pts.

Here, 6 players win 7 golf balls apiece for their twos entry.

Through to the final of the Tolite Trophy are S.Hawe versus S.McKenna. This decider must be played by Friday,14th September.

Entries are now being taken for the ladies Autumn league competition.To run from 26th September up to, and including,13th November,the team draw will be made on Friday, 23rd September.

The entry fee of £8 must be paid when playing first card. Those interested should sign the appropriate sheet.

And,the annual Friendship Cup play away against Roganstown,has two possible dates. These are Saturday 8th September and Friday, 12th October.

A halfway venue has yet to be decided. Here too, if interested, please sign the sheet provided on the noticeboard.

Tee times are 9.30am to 10.30am while a similar event is planned for Sunday, 2.30pm to 3pm.

This Saturday sees the 2nd leg of the annual Sperrin Cup against Killymoon played at Moyola Park. A Sweep Stableford is down for Sunday while Monday continues the Seniors (over 50s) Open Stablefords.

The ladies branch hold their Crawford Cup Stroke 18 Hole Stableford next Wednesday, 29th August. Entry here is £3 and £1 for optional twos.

And, a Nine Hole Competition is proposed for Thursdays.With the exception of any open events that may be held on this day, entry will be £2 per card, available from the pro shop. All cards must be returned to the bar.

Club Lotto draw numbers for Sunday, 19th August – 8,10,13 and 19.The £25 winners were Laurence McQuillan and Michael Gribbin.The jackpot was not won and now stands at £1,050.
