KILLYMOON’S Captain for 2012, Mr Malcolm Kee launched the 2012 season on St Patrick’s Day amid glorious Spring sunshine and in front of over one hundred and seventy members.
The traditional “Captains Drive- In” marks the start of the new season and Captain Malcolm started the year with a long straight drive that split the first fairway.
After a very close and exciting competition it was the team of Bryan Martin; Gary McCabe; Hugh Orr and George Faulkner who returned the best score of the day with a nine under par 61 gross.
Best Nett went to the team of Harold Ritchie; Darren Wylie; Evan Simpson and Paul Richardson. with 55.8.
Second Gross was won by Tommy McGeown; Gerry Daly; Robert Langridge and Ricky Earls while the prize for Second Nett went to the “Four” of Jonathan Feeney; Raymond Pembleton; Hugh Doyle and Peter Cassidy on 56.3.
The prize for the best 3Man Team was won by Brian Gogarty; John Halferty and Peter Coyle.
The prize giving was followed by Irish Stew and a session of traditional Irish music provided by Darren Hagan and friends – a great evening was enjoyed by all.
Meanwhile Friday 16 March saw the formal end of the 2011 season with the presentation dinner for the Winter League
After 12 exciting weeks with the 8 best scores counting Roy Montgomery emerged the overall winner on 285 points followed by Kieran Rogers and Bernard McCaughey both on 276.
