The Rainey HC U13 team

The Rainey HC U13 team

ON Saturday 28th Rainey travelled to the annual Ballymena mini hockey tournament. Rainey fielded four teams from P6 A&B team ,P7 & U13b to face teams from Larne, Mossley & the home teams from Ballymena.

Each team had to play four matches with a maximum of 20 points up for grabs, 4 for a win, 2 for a score draw, 1 for a no score draw. The P6 A team won 2, drew 1 & lost 1in, including a 6-0 win over Larne to finish third in what was a very competitive group. Goal scorers were Kerry Thornton 3, Ellie Montgomery 4, Rachel McMenamy 2. The P6 B team went one better in this group to secure the runners up spot, the majority of this team are P5 girls and although small in stature they are very determined, definitely a team to watch in the future. Goal scorers; Alexandra McKinlay 7, Olivia Lennox 4, Ellie Montgomery 1.

The P7 team beat Larne 3-0, Ballymena A 3-1, Ballymena B 3-2 to face Mossley who were also undefeated in their first three matches. This was a tough match from the start with Mossley emerging 1-4 winners , with Rainey taking the runners up spot; goal scorers Bethany Scott 6, Jordan Ferguson 3, Hannah Porter 1.

The under 13B team lost 3 and drew 1, this a relatively new team who found the day and experience very enjoyable, and now look forward to the Carrickfergus tournament in May.

Thank you to Ballymena Hockey Club for hosting this super event in what was another great day for the girls from Rainey Mini Hockey.
