Cookstown brave as they beat Wallace

COOKSTOWN High School girl’s U14 played an extremely strong Wallace side in the Junior Schools Cup on Saturday.

From the whistle the Cookstown girls reacted and went out hard and within five minutes a quick pass into the circle found Hannah Taylor who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.

Wallace reacted they has some great pressure on the right wing which Chelsea Cowden dealt with superbly. Wallace had several good moves which penetrated the Cookstown girls circle but strong tackles by Jenny Crozier and Chloe Bowden left them unable to put any shots away. At half time the score was still 1-0.

In the second half Cookstown had some chances with Kerri Scott’s shot going narrowly wide and Hannah Taylor and Corie Harkness unable to convert opportunities.

Wallace were also coming back fighting and created several opportunities putting the Cookstown girls under pressure but an outstanding stick save by keeper Chloe Morrow and two penalty corner stops by an on form Lauren Reilly prevented Wallace from equalizing.

The Cookstown girls put together a great team performance and defended like a brick wall. Leaving the final 1-0 to Cookstown and a place in the Ulster Junior Schools Cup Quarter Finals.
