Cookstown and District Motor Cycle Club turns 90 in style
THE Cookstown and District Motor Cycle Club celebrated their 90th anniversary in style with a special chat show at the Royal Hotel.
Club members were joined by the great and the good of local road racing as they reminisced on the history of the club.
The club was formed on Saturday 11th February in 1922 and it has a long and famous history with Irish road racing.
Guest speakers on the evening included Liam Beckett, who had been a mechanic for Robert Dunlop for over two decades and Len Ireland. Noel Hudson, Billy McCosh, Ray McCullough, Leslie McMaster and current racing star Ryan Farquhar all spoke to the large crowd.
Club Chairperson John McKeown thanked everyone for attending the event and there was a minute of silence for club members and those involved in road racing, who had sadly passed away.
Kenny Loughrin spoke on the history of the club while Maureen McComb read out the birthday wishes.
To conclude the evening two of the oldest and youngest members of the club, Milton Thom, John Boyce, Adam Crooks and Ben Currie cut the 90th Anniversary cake.
