Kerri double sends High School girls into semi-final

Cookstown High 2

Killicomaine High 1

The U14 team from Cookstown High School played Killicomaine in the Quarter Final of the Junior Schools Cup.

The girls faced tough opposition with the Portadown girls but in the first 10 minutes they rose to the challenge. Some great work by Cowden, Stewart and Taylor up the left saw a shot go past the post whilst several quick balls into the circle by Scott could not be converted. After the first ten minutes Killicomaine settled into the game and created some chances of their own.

Their Centre Midfield made some mazy runs which put Cookstown under pressure but Bowden and Reilly dealt with these well in defence. Chloe Morrow was steady as usual in nets making some great saves.

At half time the girls realised they would have to up the ante if they were to achieve a result. Killicomaine pressed hard from the whistle and created several chances in the middle of the pitch.

Cookstown fought hard, Scott made an excellent run into the circle to turn strong and scored an unstoppable shot. Cookstown were on top again and were more determined to score again. Spence worked tirelessly upfront and won several frees.
