Rainey Fours’ narrow defeat

Portadown V 27
Rainey IV 24

In the Minor League South, Portadown V beat Rainey IV by 27-24 at Chambers Park in a game which could have gone either way.

Rainey came back well from a 17-0 deficit. A try from wing McElhone, converted by Martin, boosted their hopes before half-time.

The Magherafelt men scored again when flanker Moore broke free from his own 22’ and when wing McAlynn crossed, the conversion had them in front.

Portadown replied with a penalty and then added a try before centre McBride closed the gap five minutes from time.
