Thirds swamp Ports at Hatrick

Rainey III 32

Portadown III 3

After a frustrating day at Dromore, Rainey III enjoyed better fortune when they defeated Portadown III at Hatrick Park.

Though dominant throughout, it was only in the final quarter that the points were secured with three tries to leave them 32-3 winners.

A reunited front row of McCann, O’Loane and Deehan gave them the platform, with the Pattersons on song in the lineout.

Yet they had to settle for a 13-3 interval lead, centre McBride getting a try and the boot of wing Walker contributing eight points.

Scores were disallowed before centre McNamee marked his first outing of the season with a try.

Second row O’Kane helped himself to a try and dangerous full-back O’Neill pickedup a deseved score in the dying minutes.
