ON Sunday Rainey Hockey Club held the first of their popular Mini Hockey Tournaments for the 2012/13 season in Meadow Bank Sports Arena.

The home club Rainey RFHC were joined by clubs from Randalstown, Dungannon, Ballymena, Coleraine & Ballymoney to play the morning U11 session and the afternoon U13 session.

The U11 tournament started at 11am with teams having to play five or six matches.

Rainey fielded two teams from P6 & P7 to take part in this very popular age group.

The P6 team played six matches and finished the day undefeated and top of their group.

After playing five tough matches the P7 team finished up with four wins and one defeat to Randalstown.

The U13 competion started at 1.30pm with Rainey again fielding two teams in what was to be a great afternoon’s hockey. With some of the girls just making the move up from U11 to U13 they were not daunted by the task ahead.

The U13’s started their campaign playing with sheer determination throughout the afternoon with both teams doing themselves proud to finish on a high with wins and some losses, but with a good foundation to build on.

We would like to thank the visiting teams for attending, the table officials for both the morning and afternoon sessions and all the coaches and helpers who give up their time to enable these popular events to run.
