Representative recognition for High School pupils

SIX pupils from Cookstown High School were selected to represent their nation and their region recently.

Jacqueline Burns and Emma McFarland have been selected to represent Northern Ireland Under 15 level in football. The pair will take part in the Bob Doherty International Tournament which takes place in Dublin in April. In Dublin, they will face Wales, Scotland and the hosts, the Republic of Ireland.

The talented duo were also selected as part of the SELB Under 15 hockey squad that will face squads from the South East, Western, Belfast, Northern and North Eastern areas. The one day tournament will take place on Tuesday 27th March.

Kaleigh Hodgett and Cara Sloan are also part of the U17 panel who will face other areas at Lisnagarvey on Thursday 22nd March.

Three Cookstown High School pupils have also just returned from representing Northern Ireland in Netball. Megan Millar represented on the U21 Netball Squad whilst Lorraine Burns represented in the U21 Development section.

Both teams played in the Netball European Championships in Antrim. Jacqueline Burns represented Northern Ireland at U17 level in the European Championships in Glasgow. Past pupils Kirstie McCammon, Sara Campbell and Karen Lees also represented at U21 level. Congratulations to all the girls on their success.
