SOCCER: CYFC coaches wind back the clock...and lose!

CYFC Coaches 5 CYFC 17s and 18s select 6

ON Wednesday 28 October a CYFC coaches team took on the under 17s and 18s in a eleven a-side glamour friendly.

To give the young lads a chance the coaches agreed not to stay on the pitch for anymore than ten minutes at a time so as not to get into their usual high energy rhythm.

The coaches team included Noal "the cat" McKenzie in nets and an array of outfield talent such as Alan "The Gazelle" Carson, Philip "Winkle Pickers" McWilliams, Rodney "Arms" Hutchinson , Andy "I'm not fat" Kelly , Stevie "Where did he come from" Hunter and Stevie "Ferdinand" O'Hare, to name only a few.

Due to the roll-on, roll-off substitution system played by Manager Kyra "Hit it" Kelly , the old boys found it difficult to play to their true potential and therefore the 17s and 18s came away winners by 6 goals to 5.

It was great to see John " the Hoff" Shannon there, recovering well after his operation and indeed he made an appearance for both teams.

Referee for the game was 18s coach Andy Warrick who did an excellent job although because of his short legs, the ten yards back was really five yards, so next time Andy , go back twenty!

A great night's craic was had by all those who played and spectated and hopefully this could become a regular feature in the CYFC diary.
