SOCCER: Moyola Park Youth defeat Erskine Youth on away trip

TWENTY TWO Moyola Park FC Youth footballers, alongside coaches and committee members, took to the Irish sea and travelled to Erskine on the outskirts of Glasgow on Saturday 20 June.

Coaches at Moyola youth have established and developed club links with this well known and respected, community-based, feeder club which has nurtured some of Scotland's well reknowned, professional footballers some of whom have been, or are, currently signed by Scottish or English high profile clubs.

P&O Irishsea, one of Moyola Park Youth's main sponsors, kindly supported this local club for the second year running in assisting these lads and lasses to meet and build cross channel sporting alliances which have served to enhance sporting opportunities for both Moyola and Erskine players.

On the day Moyola gave a tremendous sporting performance despite the gruelling early morning ferry crossing immediately prior to kick off at Erskine at 11:30am.

Moyola U14 goals on the day from Conor Taggart, Niall Loughlin and Kyle Bradley secured a 3-1 victory over the Erskine U14 Utd side who had previously, at U13 level, won the prestigious Glasgow Cup Tournament.

Moyola U16 side secured a double victory with spectacular goals from Oisin Coleman, Conal McErlean and Martin Downey to round off a thoroughly well rolled out show of sportsmanship by both youth footballing clubs.

Finally to seal the team spirit, Moyola coaches and players stopped off at the famous indoor adventure sporting arena and pavilion at the Xscape Complex at Braehead, where they enjoyed a round of 18 hole adventure golf and a wee bite to eat before returning home on the ferry that night.

Moyola Park FC Youth would like to sincerely thank P&O Irishsea, Magherafelt District Council and McColgan Electrical Contracts who have kindly supported this trip.
