Watch: Magherafelt Harriers brave the snow in Greencastle

On Friday 26th December (Boxing Day ) 12 hardy Magherafelt harriers joined over 800 athletes as they braved wintry conditions to compete in the 29th annual Greencastle 5 mile road race in Greencastle.

A fast start as always followed by Heartbreak Hill lay in wait for everyone and as the crowds gathered at the finish line it was none other than club chairman Kevin Murphy who emerged through the snow showers as the leading harrier home.

A tremendous run once again from this man who has led from the front at numerous races this year . Followed closely by Alvin Taylor who put in a great shift to finish 3rd in his category , well done Alvin . Francis Stewart , Sebastian Wisneiwski and Niall Higgins all finished within a second of each other , super running lads . Rodney Young and Adrian Ferson followed with strong performances . Next in was Martin Conway and Raymond Monaghan with fine runs . Chris McSwiggan had a steady run followed by team Finlay , Dougie and Rhoda well done all . A fabulous effort by all club members in wintry conditions a big thanks to Oliver McCullagh and all involved in the organising of the Greencastle 5 mile road race .
