‘Buskerman’ as he is known online has been bringing his own special sound to streets across Europe, after leaving Dungannon two years ago in search of more excitement.

Now he plans to put his prize money towards a planned trip to Australia, so he can “tour around there”.

Darryl told the Times: “I’m over the moon.

“I’m from dungannon and left home two years ago being bored of life here, and played music on the streets everyday.

“I slowly moved through England at that point and got more equipped with an amp, microphone and some pedals - started selling a CD and went to Europe.” After that Darryl said he “travelled to every country just playing music on the streets every day” and that along the way, he “fell in love with a German girl”.

Since January the Dungannon man says he has been living in Hamburg, but has now “booked to go to Australia and tour around there” adding that “winning the money really helps with that”.

After playing for four straight hours on the streets of Dungannon on Saturday, Darryl went on to perform on the same stage as The Bagatelles at Dungannon’s Railway Park concert later that evening after being crowned busking champion.

And his advice for anyone else with a dream is “believe in yourself and you can achieve anything”.
