It may only be September but it won’t be long until Pantomime season 2017 at the Burnavon Theatre in Cookstown.

And Stewartstown Dramatic Society have confirmed that their annual family pantomime this year will be ‘Willy Wonka: The Pantomime.’

The annual family pantomime has become a real event in the local calendar with many a local face appearing in various guises, and auditions will be held this weekend for the popular show.

Auditions and registration for principal cast, supporting cast and chorus members will take place on Saturday September 24 from 11am until 1pm at McNeece Hall, Stewartstown.

This year Stewartstown Dramatic Society is delighted to welcome back again Brian Morgan as Director, after his hugely successful run with this years’ pantomime staged by the group, The Wizard of Oz.

Brian, together with the cast, will take the audience to a land of pure imagination in Willy Wonka’s Pantomime.

Based on themes from Roald Dahl’s magical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this year’s box of delights follows the story of Charlie Bucket and the search for the golden ticket that could give him the chance to finally see inside Willy Wonka’s amazing chocolate factory.

Willy Wonka’s Pantomime is packed full of song, dance, hilarity and of course…chocolate.

Featuring Willy Wonka and Charlie, Grandpa Joe and the Dame of the show, Mrs Gloop, we’ll also meet the love struck reporter Cherry Sundae.

Willy Wonka’s pantomime is the perfect recipe for great entertainment for all the family.

As this year marks the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth, it is appropriate that the local company has decided to put its own unique spin on his chocolatey creations for their annual pantomime.

The show is playing on Fridays and Saturdays from January 6 through to January 28.

Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8pm and the Saturday matinee performances at 2.30pm, with a preview night scheduled for Friday 6 January 6.

So if you think you’d like to make a visit to Willy Wonka’s land of pure imagination, and enjoy acting, singing and dancing please join Stewartstown Amateur Dramatic Association at McNeece Hall on Saturday September 24 for registration and auditions.

Stewartstown Dramatic Society formed and presented Jack and the Beanstalk over the Easter 2000 period. Since then they have gone from strength to strength. Last year the company staged The Wizard of Oz, mujch to the delight of local audiences.
