11 known sex offenders in city
Eleven convicted paedophiles, rapists, flashers, and violent offenders were living in the community here according to the annual report of the Public Protection Arrangements in Northern Ireland (PPANI). A further two were living in Strabane, whilst there were none in Limavady.
The highest concentration in Northern Ireland was South Belfast (36).

Hide AdAmongst those managed are sex offenders which the PPANI calls as “those who are required by law to notify the police of their name, address and other personal details and to notify any changes subsequently (known as ‘notification requirements’ or ‘the sex offender register’).
“Failure to comply with the notification requirements is a criminal offence which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment.”
Violent offenders are also subject to the arrangements. These are classed as: “those who have been convicted of a violent offence against a child or vulnerable adult, or violent offences within a domestic situation, as well as other violent offences which have been aggravated by hostility.”
