Bert’s back for Bridge B and makes an immediate impact

MARKET B 3 Bridge B 5: It seems that Ricer has gave up, but the return of Bert Doherty on transfer deadline day will insure the Bridge side won’t miss their star man so much!

A Barr put the Market B 1-0 and the Bridge looked sluggish after their cup heroics the week beforehand.

Miracles will never cease - R Connell and P Malcolmson both won to put the away side 2-1 up.

Dromore teams are a stubborn bunch and the Market wouldn’t let their opponents get too far away from them, not when they could realistically still challenge for the title. P McStraw equalised.

S McKay, the new golden boy of the Bridge, secured a one frame lead (3-2) before Bert Doherty approached the table with a swagger he must have adopted whilst in England! And, of course he won, making it 4-2!

With only the doubles remaining, the Market had their work cut out! All they could do is win the next frame, which they did thanks to A Barr and his partner, but the McKay team won the last frame to nick the points!

The Market really missed their chance at getting back in the hunt.

First & Last 4 Imperial 4: Having been knocked out of the cup the previous night, the Imperial’s disappointment did not show, as they got back to business as usual.

They’re raced into a 3-0 lead through M Jamison, I McCreanor and J Ferris.

A bad day at the office from both Brian Lyness and McCourt, whilst a disappointing display from Marty Lyness didn’t do the home team any favours.

However, “Taepot” rescued his frame against “Buffer” Kerr, in a game where mutual respect between opponents played a big part and victory was well deserved.

Chris Parrott then got back to winning ways after a hopeless run of defeats, to give the F&L hope of a decent result, but that hope took a serious dent when Stevie G was defeated by Stevie McMinn who guaranteed the imperial a point.

With only the doubles to contend, both Brian Lyness and Brian McCourt had a point to prove after singles defeats. McCourt got revenge on Ferris, making it 4-3.

Last but not least the mad men of Scarva Street, Taepot and Stevie G, equalised to earn a hard fought draw.

The Anglers 4 Mullholland’s B 4: Had the Anglers known that results elsewhere were going in their favour I’m sure they would have dug deeper to guarantee a result earlier in the match.

R Jardine, S Wilson and A Bingham helped Mulholland’s race into our 3-0 lead.

B Burns and C McAnearney give the home team are lifeline but M McCormack had already guaranteed the away side a point. 2-4
