Canadian folks stars to appear at Playhouse

AWARD-WINNING Canadian songstress Amelia Curran - described as a bit like "Leonard Cohen channelled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline" - is headed for The Playhouse Theatre in Londonderry this month.

A multiple East Coast Music Award nominee with an extensive discography, as well as a reputation as a playwright and actor, Amelia Curran comes to The Playhouse Theatre on Thursday October 28 at 8pm.

As well as having had her plays performed in fringe festivals, Amelia’s extensive discography, including: War Brides (2006), Lullaby for Barflies (2002), Trip Down Little Road (2001), and Barricade (2000), have been described as a selection of songs that combine "a quicksilver sweetness with wry, homegrown wisdom" according to one music critic.
