Man made disgusting comment to police
Martin McAllister (47), of Dereen Drive, was given a four month jail term, suspended for two years, and was also put on probation for a year after he pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour and assaulting police on three separate occasions between July and November last year.
The court heard McAllister had an altercation with another man in the Strand Foyer and when police arrived he became abusive.

A second incident occurred in the Social Security Office. McAllister was intoxicated and when police arrived he told them to “f*** off orange b*******”.
The court was told a further incident occurred at a house in Strathfoyle and police were called when McAllister kicked the front door. When officers arrived he became abusive and told them “I am an unrepentant Fenian b******. I will shoot you RUC b******* and you can tell the judge I said that”.
Suspending the sentence and ordering the defendant to pay compensation, District Judge Barney McElholm said: “Some of the sentiments he expressed about police were disgusting in the extreme”.
