Cyclists asked to consider alternative route in Carrickfergus
A post on the PSNI Carrickfergus Facebook page this morning read: "I have been asked to post some friendly advice to our cycling community, although I am aware that only the most dedicated of cyclists will venture out when the temperature is in the minus figures.
"If you cycle on A2 Belfast Road / Shore Road between PSNI Seapark and Station Road Greenisland, I would suggest the safest option would be to use the old part of the road as opposed to the new dual carriageway section. There is typically less traffic on this road and therefore less risk of a collision.
"I am not suggesting cyclists cannot use the new part of this road, and I would ask all vehicle drivers to give cyclist plenty of room when passing, whatever road they are on."
