Lottery funding boost for community groups in Carrickfergus
Larne / Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey Branch of Early Years has received a £9,980 grant under the Awards for All programme. It is part of a roll out of £761,601 to 86 groups across Northern Ireland.
Early Years provides support to other groups working with young children in the area. The project received funding to run training to members, focusing on promoting positive attitudes and respect for differences across communities.

Hide AdAlso boosted by the announcement is Northern Ireland Young Walkers, a walking club based in Greenisland and run by volunteers to promote improved health and build friendships. Its £4,464 grant is being used to train volunteer walk leaders.
Joanne McDowell, Big Lottery Fund NI director, said: “The application process is simple and accessible and shall remain so, making it easy for applicants to successfully apply for small pots of funding that can have such a big impact on local communities and lives.”
