Slideshow: Sailability charity’s awards dinner
The maritime area-based charity welcomed the Deputy Mayor and acting first citizen, Councillor Lynn McClurg and her husband Jim and other dignitaries to the ceremony.
The dinner recognises the commitment of volunteers throughout the year - handing out over 50 achievement and logbook awards - and marks the transition period from winter training to the sailing season.

Hide AdAfter Councillor Billy Ashe read a letter of encouragement from Anne Donaghy, chief executive of Mid & East Antrim District Council, Councillor Lynn McClurg acknowledged the recipients of the perpetual trophies:
The Mary Popper Cup, acknowledging the contribution the recipient has made to BLS, was awarded to Elizabeth Black of Ballymena.
The Bunting Award was presented to the ‘Bid Team’ for their joint work and effort on the Space & Place Flagship Programme submission (the charity is seeking funding for a resource centre through the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland).
The ‘Breakaway Adventure’ Award was awarded to the vessel ‘Ilmatar’ and owners Howard and Maria Duggan for all the help received in supporting ‘on the water activities’ organised by BLS and Carrickfergus Marina and Harbour.
Belfast Lough Sailability is now preparing for the open sessions offering sailing to those with disabilities, commencing at 7.00pm every Wednesday from April 8.
