Crash survivor talks at Clady Road Safety event
COOKSTOWN man Philip Donaghy, who survived a serious road traffic collision a number of years ago, was one of the speakers at a road safety event organised by the Bann Valley Community Group at Clady.
More than 40 young drivers attended the event which included contributions from Roads Policing, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Crime Prevention Officer.
The presentations were designed to highlight the major causes of road traffic collisions and to emphasise the particular vulnerabilities of young drivers.
This was reinforced by the NIFRS, who conducted a collision extrication demonstration where casualties were removed from a vehicle while the audience listened to both the NIFRS and Police commentary on the respective roles and responsibilities at such a scene.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Our Project EVO car was in attendance, allowing us the opportunity to engage with young drivers on the subject of car modifications.”
