In October 2012 Dinseybrokered a $4.05 billion deal to buy Lucasfilm, and with the deal came the announcement that they would be starting production on a whole new trilogy of Star Wars films that would keep the epic story going for years and years to come.

J.J. Abrams whose fantasy genre hits have included masterpieces like Lost, Alias and Star Trek Into Darkness, co-wrote the film with Lawrence Kasdan, co-writer of the original trilogy films Return of the Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back.

While some location shooting was completed in places like the Abu Dhabi desert and the Kerry island of Skellig Michael, most of filming was done at Pinewood Studios in England.

The story takes place approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi - after the destruction of the two Death Stars bankrupted the galaxy - and will feature the stars of the ‘middle’ trilogy, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa). Also on board from the original trilogy are Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew - reprising the roles of R2D2, C3PO and Chewbacca respectively.
