Film @ The Braid hosts Spielberg double-bill

This month’s event takes place at The Braid’s Studio Theatre this Thursday, June 23 at 7pm, and is a Spielberg double bill featuring Duel and Jaws.

Organisers said: “These two career defining films are significant as they represent Spielberg’s unique flair for delivering audience tension and thrills, from the outset.

“Jaws in particular, is considered to be the first Summer Blockbuster, so it’s well timed. Duel was originally developed for US TV, but was so popular that it received cinema exhibition all across Europe.

“Both movies share similar themes and are structured in such a way that you will see clear parallels after viewing them back to back. Both are presented in their original theatrical Mono sound formats and screen ratio of widescreen (Duel) and cinemascope (Jaws).”

There will be a 15 minute comfort break between screenings, with refreshments served and free DVDs and film merchandise up for grabs as spot prizes (more information on the night).

For anybody that wishes to stay after Jaws, there will be a brief discussion.
