Work on the development, off Castledawson Road close to the Lidl store, continues to progress.

The former Forbes furniture shop has been roughly doubled in size since the work started back in February.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “Construction works are currently ongoing at our new Magherafelt store, which will open its doors to customers in the first quarter of 2021.

“In the coming months, we will be recruiting for store supervisors, store assistants and store cleaners, and would encourage those interested to keep an eye on our careers website ( for more information.”

The site is owned by Mid Ulster businessman, Patsy Forbes, who has plans to turn it into a retail park. He also has planning permission for a drive-thru restaurant.
