Pass rate is 100 per cent at a delighted St Michael’s

Students at St Michael’s Grammar School were celebrating success as they received their GCSE results last week.

With a pass rate of 100% and 92% of all grades achieved falling within the upper band of A*-C, pupils were justifiably excited.

Principal of St Michael’s, Mr Gerard Adams, expressed his delight,

“One student in every 12 has achieved A8 or A grades in every subject. That is a tremendous level of performance and is an indication of the commitment and dedication they have shown to their studies of the past two years.
“They are a great group of pupils and we look forward to continuing to build on their successes as they move forward into A-Level studies in the coming days. I have every confidence that the successes of the past week will be repeatedly in two years’ time as they prepare to move onto third level studies.”

Students who achieved A* or A grades in eight or more subject areas included Connie Callaghan; Anna Daggett; Kielam Harvey; Niamh Heaney; Aimee Keenan; Rebekah Loughran; Ciara Lyness; Sophie McConaghy; Oliver McConville; Kate Mulholland; Conall O’Hagan; Fiona O’Hagan; Megan Tallon; Roisin Toman; Eadaoin Ward; and Shannon Wylie.

Mr Adams also paid tribute to the work of the staff at St Michael’s, who have worked hard to support their students to bring them to their current high levels of achievement.

“It is also true that we could not achieve these results without the engagement of parents, and I would like to thank them for their continuing support for the work that we do with their children,” he said.

Mr Adams also stated that he would like to recognise the input of St Mary’s and St Paul’s staff, who do “such a wonderful job in laying the foundations of the work which is completed in St. Michael’s”.
