Gyms reopening ‘another step forward’
The reopening of Council leisure facilities took another step forward last week, as the indoor gyms in Cookstown, Dungannon and Greenvale Leisure Centres reopened for the first time since coronavirus regulations took effect.
New arrangements have been put in place to ensure the highest standards of health and safety to ensure residents can be welcomed back to leisure facilities with piece of mind.
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan said: “The reopening of our indoor gyms in Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt represents a significant milestone in the continued phased reopening of our leisure facilities, which have received significant investment in the past 12 months, and it’s something that has been eagerly anticipated by our gym users across Mid Ulster, especially as opportunities for fitness and leisure activities have been so severely curtailed since the middle of March.
“As with all other facilities, though our warm welcome will not have changed, we’re asking users to expect a slightly different experience when they come back, and even more importantly for the users of these facilities, to abide by the rules that are in place for both their own and others safety and enjoyment.”
A timetable of group exercise classes is now available in the above facilities.
Maghera Leisure Centre and Gortgonis Citizen Centre fitness suites re-opened from Monday 27th July and a timetable of group exercise classes is available at Maghera Leisure Centre.
