Castle setting for Festival of Voice

glenarm Castle is to be the setting for NI Opera’s first Festival of Voice which aims to find new talent through a vocal competition for young singers.

The competition will be held in the coastal village this September and the winner will receive a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform alongside world-class soprano, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, at a special NI Opera concert at the Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s.

The vocal competition, which will take place from September 9-11, will see five young singers compete for the coveted prize. The singers will perform in a grand final, open to the public, with the winner announced at the end of the evening. One of the five finalists is mezzo-soprano Sarah Richmond from Carrickfergus.

Tickets for the Festival of Voice events will be on sale soon, visit www.niopera.com for details.
