Dancers wow crowds at music fest

OVER 120 talented young dancers from across the borough received a rapturous applause from music lovers at the three-day Craigavon Music Fest.

The dancers, who were from a number of community groups, were organised by Fiona Bawn-Thompson of Fiona’s Academy of Drama & Dance in partnership with Craigavon Borough Council and Peace III Future Foundations.

Groups which participated included Donaghcloney Rural Needs, Shankill and Wakehurst community action group, PAKT, Craigavon Travellers support group, BOS project, Ashgrove Community Centre, Individuals from Fiona’s Academy, and Kids from Linda May’s Dance Company. There were also individuals from different parts of the community who came on board and joined in the workshops.

The groups came together to perform various songs and dances, with the finale song including every member.

Said Fiona: “The community concerts were a resounding success, and the intense workshops meant that kids who had never sang or danced before went from scratch to performing in front of 200 people in three weeks. The feedback has been great from all who came to see, and the kids - as well as the adults - who were involved really enjoyed the whole process.

Videos of some the performances have been uploaded to the Fiona’s Academy of Drama & Dance Facebook page
