Good Relations event looks at musical history and heritage

Different Tune, Same Rhythm? will look at history, heritage and the process of making and playing instruments which has been central to a diverse and rich tradition of music, performance and culture for generations.

The session will take place via Zoom on Monday, February 15 at 7pm with participation from David Swann (Lambeg), Aodan “Jaff” Mac Seafraidh (Uileann Pipes), William Hill (Fife) and Ciaran Mulholland (Fiddle).

The Hear! Here! Programme began in January with an event to mark Burns Night followed by an evening with language experts Liam Logan and Linda Ervine who shared their extensive experience of working within Ulster Scots and Irish Language communities.

Feedback has been extremely positive so far, with comments including “I absolutely loved this evening and can’t even grasp yet just how much it has opened up thoughts and ideas” and “thank you Linda and Liam, fantastic session, very informative and interesting!”

As part of the Hear! Here! Programme the Good Relations team will also host a session on Wednesday, March 3 at 7pm which will explore “Irish Dancing – The Festival Story” with author Angeline King depicting the story of Irish dancing in Ulster from 1904 to today. As Writer in Residence of Ulster University, Angeline is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing. She has also written and published three novels and children’s book, including her latest book ‘Dusty Bluebells.’
