Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section have had a busy time since relocating and have enjoyed a full programme of activities including rainbows taking part in a Santa Trail and senior section working on Bronze and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

“It’s been a fantastic year for guiding in Ahoghill,” says Miriam McIlvenna, Senior Section Leader.

“Moving premises after 70 years was a difficult process for the leadership team and girls, but we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Our membership has grown quite dramatically, and continues to do so. We are grateful to St. Colmanell’s Parish for the use of their halls each week and for their prayerful and practical support within the units.

This year the Big Brownie Birthday was high on the events calendar and the Ahoghill group enjoyed being part of County celebrations.

The Guides and Senior Section are currently working towards Bronze & Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards and will complete their expeditions this summer.

Meanwhile rainbow member, Farrah, was given special recognition at the County Awards night and senior section members have gained Chief Guides Challenge, Milleniuim Volunteer Awards, Silver DoEd Awards, Young Leadership qualifications and more.

As weekly meetings wind down for the summer, they are now looking forward to the camping season followed by their restart on Monday evenings from September 8.
