John’s ‘Chaircut’ raises over £2k for Portrush lifeboat

Chairperson for the local RNLI Fundraising committee, John Martin, recently had all of his “lockdown hair” cut off to raise funds for the lifeboat charity in what became known as ‘The Chaircut’.

Thanks to sponsorship and collections, John’s ‘hair raising’ venture raised a final total of £2,122.50.

Media personality Sarah Travers acted as ‘Special Guest Crimper’ on the day and said: “This is just brilliant - well done to all involved”. Local barber Nico of Nico’s Hairdressing, who took over after Sarah’s ‘first cut’, said, “If ever there was a good reason to give up my day off this was it - I couldn’t be more pleased.”
