Maghera’s Big Breakfast in aid of Cancer Research UK takes place at Walsh’s Hotel on Friday, March 7.

The Maghera Local Committee for Cancer Research UK are once more dishing up their amazing ‘Big Breakfast’ for the twelfth year.

The committee is hoping this year will be the biggest yet. Everyone is invited to come along from 7am to 2pm and support this worthwhile cause. You can enjoy an Ulster fry or a healthy option.

Committee Chairperson Violet Phillips said they all really look forward to the Big Breakfast for Cancer Research UK which takes place each year.

“It’s a great, fun way of raising money for a fantastic charity,” she said.

Every day, 23 people are diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland - that’s around 8,200 each year. Thanks to research, more people are beating the disease than ever before and Cancer Research UK is at the heart of this progress with twice as many people surviving cancer compared to 40 years ago.

Cancer Research UK currently spends more than £2 million pounds each year on research in Northern Ireland. Belfast is recognised as an international centre of excellence in cancer research and it recently joined a unique network of Cancer Research UK Centres that are being launched across the UK.

The new Northern Ireland Molecular Pathology laboratory was opened in January 2013 and is revolutionising cancer diagnosis and treatment in Northern Ireland.

Everyone is asked to support the Big Breakfast and help make this year the most successful yet.
